lyrics

E/A D/G

Last night I met a girl like a petit four on Allerton Road
Exposing my soul whilst I listened to her talking in code
And I was listening to excuses and tears as I held her close
And it was just like holding yourself like when you were young
But her eyes betrayed her narcissism
I stumbled and we kissed like sisters
Oh those stupid little young machines she promised to call
And I keep on walking

Two days later I was drunk, I was so sad and lonely
And after the customary delay we went back to her house on the lane
It was filled with girls from my past and they were thinking of violence
With the girls from my past I drank coconut rum and silence
She had a face that I just couldn't figure
It did something so good I can’t remember
Oh those stupid little young machines she promised to call
And I keep on walking…

Snips whiskers, fog and death I'd love a brandy Alexander’s
I look out my face and see the Bouverie, I try to avoid it
The same goes for me locked up in an insane asylum
The foods not great, but money will buy small favours
The same isn't anything but screamers from your past
But these ice cream ladies live in towers of glass
Oh those stupid little young machines she promised to call
And I keep on walking
And I keep on walking
And I keep on walking
And I keep on walking

But ice cream ladies in their towers of glass look and laugh
And I keep on walking
But ice cream ladies in their towers of glass look and laugh
And I keep on walking
But ice cream ladies in their towers of glass look and laugh
And I keep on walking
But ice cream ladies in their towers of glass look and laugh
And I keep on walking
But ice cream ladies in their towers of glass look and laugh
And I keep on walking
