lyrics

D/G/A

I came into the lobby of the Westminster hotel
Dressed in shabby flannel like a homeless lumberjack
I knew where I was going
The bell hop didn't attempt eye contact or a stop and chat

I rode the elevator
I rose up like an angel flying through the sun on fire and straight to hell
I came into a clearing
It was Dante’s seventh circle as far as I could tell

I knocked on the door
A woman answered in a yellow un-ironed dressing gown
I push back the door and then the covers
I drawn the blinds as the crisp cold hard English evening sun goes down

I came into her mouth
Now I'm wearing white tie a razor blade and black shiny shoes
I left my self respect
On a scum-bag red-top newspaper editors polished desk

I see my reflection
In the pages of a vile right wing chip shop rag on Halloween
I'm going through money
The way a rich meal passes through the digestive tract of butter bean

Taxi drivers scream
Those pretty dirty words are lasers to my self esteem
I'm given some drugs
I pay twelve pounds for a drink I would've paid fifteen

I came into her mouth
my agent considers offers from reality TV
I left my self respect
On a scum-bag red-top newspaper editors polished desk
