lyrics

Am/F C/Em/Am/F G/G7

It started like another rainy day, my body ached with life
Within an hour I'm somehow dressed and obediently in line
You could almost smell the restlessness of the mobile phone fuelled hate
Everywhere was hot and white with a noticeable absence of delight

And it’s the end of it all and it’s almost a relief
At least they don't have claws. Hey, have you heard the news?
Now we’ll never win the league, ‘cause our stadiums too small, but all our players are gone
So what does it matter?

The Ant People Are Coming

A wild faced fox displayed his grief, he was happy with his government
Haunted and scarred by repressed urges, dreaming of discos in the burnt out churches

And it’s the end of it all and it’s almost a relief
They’re only 4 foot tall. Hey, have you heard the news?
You know, I never went HD
will the Interest rates now fall? Well, all the banks are gone…
so what does it matter?

The Ant People Are Coming

Straight away You knew they were smart, ‘cause they did it on a Monday morning
Not a single living soul could be bothered defending their planet on a Monday morning
They didn't bother with ships, they sent up flares, as we looked to the skies they came up skirts
We finished our lattes and filmed our fall, before sharing the footage on our Facebook walls.

And it’s the end of it all and it’s almost a relief
Hey, have you heard the news? We’re headed for a Fall
Our appetites were light and our plans were much too small,
Now the moon is gone, so what does it matter?

The Ant People Are Coming

“They ignored the capital buildings, they hit the sandwich shops and retail parks with an incredible vengeance.
When Orion dominates the winter sky, the ant people are deep in their centrally heated caved
living beneath us, making plans, heating soup and watching Frasier.
They discovered a land fat with violence and greed, everybody had electric eyes, soda breath, they had no choice. Today is the day of judgement kidda”
